I’m proud to announce along with my co-chair Chris Braley, that Saint Albans, West Virginia, has become the first city in the state and one of a select few cities nationwide to achieve the designation as a Dementia Friendly Community.
To achieve this status, cities must offer and perform training to local businesses on how to provide exclusivity for families and people suffering from the horrible disease of Dementia. These local businesses commit to providing an accepting/inclusive atmosphere for dementia sufferers and their caregivers to shop, dine, and recreate.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with our committee and city officials as new signs were unveiled at both the east and west end of the city of St. Albans.
